JEFFERSON, TEXAS |
|
| We have recently discovered Jefferson, Texas. If you like antique shops, haunted houses, civil war era history, Jefferson is one place you don't want to miss! Once the second largest river port in Texas, it's full of interesting shops, people, stories, and attractions. Here's some pictures from our visits. | |
Sept. 05
Our first visit to Jefferson. We stayed in the
Grant Presidential room at the Excelsior House, the oldest Hotel in east Texas.
Visited the museum (3 or 4 stories tall), took a carriage tour around town, and
pilfered through some of the antique shops.
Oct. 05
Much cooler weather this time. Went on
the ghost walk (which visits several known sighting areas in town), visited more
antique shops, the General Store, took another carriage tour, and a boat tour on
the Big Cypress Bayou. Since it was Halloween weekend we went on the Fright
Train which is located out of town and goes through the woods with some funny
and sometimes scary people and sights. (No pics, sorry) This time we stayed at
the Whistle Stop Inn which is an 1880's railway car. It was great!
